The Ravens did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Keionte Scott fell into slot 115. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Hill Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Banks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A surprising call. With edge rusher still to address, they spent pick 49 on Anthony Hill Jr., a linebacker they were not short of.
They robbed the room for Eli Stowers here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Sam Hecht at the 113th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaeden Roberts at No. 154 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Dametrious Crownover reach the 162nd overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Demond Claiborne in the 163rd pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Kevin Coleman Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 173. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Louis Moore at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Toriano Pride Jr. at Round 6, Pick 30 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Nwankpa in pick No. 234; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Nolan Rucci in No. 250 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jalon Daniels at the 253rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
