When a board-topper like Jarrian Jones slides to the 158th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. If Paul pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Adisa Isaac in No. 47 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Christian Haynes at pick No. 55 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Patrick Paul in the 70th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cornelius Johnson at the 184th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 21 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trey Taylor in slot 251 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
