The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
McCarthy has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a franchise quarterback, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Cam Hart in the 108th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Theo Johnson at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Davis in pick No. 157, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Khristian Boyd at No. 167 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Michael Barrett. It adds depth where they could use a little.
You do not let a wide receiver like Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint reach Round 7, Pick 12 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
