Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens let Rodriguez fall into their laps, and walked away with a C-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Ravens, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They banked enough surplus on Rodriguez to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Carnell Tate · WR · rank 12
In slot 14 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Caleb Banks · DL · rank 41
Caleb Banks at pick 45 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Caleb Tiernan · OT · rank 54
A clean, defensible pick in the 60th pick with a little surplus value in Caleb Tiernan. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Logan Jones · C · rank 91
No drama and no debate, Logan Jones went about where he belonged in No. 87. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 72
Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 95 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Michael Trigg · TE · rank 115
They read the board right and Michael Trigg was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 30. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.11 · Pick 151 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 145
Isaiah World at the 151st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.17 · Pick 157 · Charles Demmings · CB · rank 148
Charles Demmings is a better player than pick No. 157 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
