Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Kris Abrams-Draine, the No. 91 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 126th overall pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Reed pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach for Payton Wilson in pick 25; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 41st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javon Bullard in pick No. 58 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Bralen Trice at slot 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Patrick Paul at Round 3, Pick 28 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 126th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Braiden McGregor at No. 169, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Nathan Thomas went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in Round 6, Pick 44 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Emani Bailey in slot 245, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Devin Culp at No. 255, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Austin Reed at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
