It is the swing that defines the weekend: Phillip Webb in the 195th overall pick, a good 95 spots before the room expected him.
Getting Singleton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 20 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the 48th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They let Tyler Booker come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in No. 98, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Riley Leonard at pick No. 99, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Savion Williams at the 115th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Seth McLaughlin in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nicholas Singleton in pick No. 156 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Phillip Webb in Round 6, Pick 20 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Brennan Presley in the 224th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jason Henderson this early at pick 231. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at the 251st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
