The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Jones pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Suamataia has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, safety and other spots still on the board.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in pick No. 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
You do not let a wide receiver like Roman Wilson reach No. 68 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A surprising call. With edge rusher, safety and other spots still to address, they spent Round 4, Pick 4 on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
Fabien Lovett in the 136th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kamal Hadden is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Elijah Jones in the 229th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
