Everything else got attention, and safety got none. That is a strange way for the Rams to leave a draft. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Ponds pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get the heartbeat of the defense. Need was not the driver here.
D'Angelo Ponds at No. 61 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A clean, defensible pick in the 93rd pick with a little surplus value in Sam Hecht. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Sawyer Robertson went about where he belonged in pick No. 207. The roster fit checks out.
Zavion Thomas slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Fa'alili Fa'amoe in slot 251, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Alan Herron at Round 7, Pick 36 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
