Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Jaylan Ford, the No. 205 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 245. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Gore Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in slot 25, with JC Latham worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 41st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Xavier Worthy all the way to No. 88, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cade Stover at the 91st pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick 202 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
KT Leveston at pick No. 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Jaylan Ford here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Circle this one: Michael Barrett at Round 7, Pick 35 is a fall that decides a draft. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
