Green Bay Packers

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Harden: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Myles Harden at pick No. 216 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 21
In pick 25 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 38
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 41st overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 61
Zach Frazier at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 75
They read the board right and Calen Bullock was the payoff at No. 88. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 93
Bucky Irving in Round 3, Pick 28 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 126
They took Cedric Gray at par in the 127th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 159
Mason McCormick at slot 168 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Nathan Thomas · OT · rank 208
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nathan Thomas. It fills a real need, too.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Myles Harden · CB · rank 184
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Myles Harden in No. 216, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 218
They robbed the room for Michael Barrett here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 244
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Magee went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
