The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots still glaring, the Packers used the 119th overall pick on Jahdae Barron, a safety they were not exactly short of.
Getting Moore where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They will need Powers-Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Chris Braswell, who had no business lasting to pick No. 44. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 51st pick, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Rod Moore at Round 3, Pick 19 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nothing to complain about; TreVeyon Henderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
