You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cardinals did exactly that with Kevin Jennings in slot 149.
However the rest shakes out, Campbell at that price is a win they earned. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Xavier Restrepo at par in Round 2, Pick 13, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jihaad Campbell in the 76th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Shemar Turner at pick 115, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Kevin Jennings at slot 149, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
