You build a draft on nights like this. Lander Barton had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 1, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
In the end it comes back to Shemar Stewart, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Aireontae Ersery in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in the 101st overall pick, where Denzel Burke graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Terrance Ferguson at No. 129 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Pat Bryant in pick No. 162. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Willie Lampkin at pick 169, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Billy Bowman Jr. was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 20, and they pounced on premier safety value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Lander Barton still on the board at slot 219. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Cobee Bryant in pick No. 229, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
