The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Landing Torrence that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Morgan. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in slot 40: Tyler Guyton for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Xavier Legette in pick 67 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Johnny Wilson in the 100th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Melton in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dallin Holker at the 139th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Delmar Glaze in Round 6, Pick 4 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Ro Torrence at the 222nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
