Dallas Cowboys

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Castro: B.

Call it larceny. Sebastian Castro sat on the board until pick 150, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Uiagalelei has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In pick 12 they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 40
They did well to land Tyler Booker in No. 44, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 56
Alfred Collins in the 76th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Sebastian Castro · S · rank 89
Circle this one: Sebastian Castro at the 150th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Chase Lundt · OT · rank 161
A quiet steal in slot 170: Chase Lundt for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Kobe King · LB · rank 130
They barely believed it either: Kobe King still on the board at Round 5, Pick 33. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Kalel Mullings · RB · rank 113
Taking Kalel Mullings in pick No. 174 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.20 · Pick 198 · CJ West · DT · rank 213
They paid up for CJ West at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 175
The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.9 · Pick 227 · DJ Uiagalelei · QB · rank 285
They reached into another round for DJ Uiagalelei, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Roc Taylor · WR · rank 190
Somehow Roc Taylor was still sitting there in pick No. 249, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
