Start where it matters. The Patriots took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Franklin where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in the 34th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Fair-plus on Chop Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Brenden Rice at par in pick No. 68, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Blake Fisher in pick 103. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Jaheim Bell in the 139th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kitan Oladapo is a better player than Round 6, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sheridan Jones in slot 224 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Blake Watson in the 232nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Zakhari Franklin at pick 246 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
