The rest of the league will want that one back. Chandler Rivers tumbling to the Bears in pick 129 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Ramsey pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots still on the board.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a downhill hitter at safety, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
Nothing to complain about; Gabe Jacas went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 28 with a little surplus value in Jake Slaughter. A need, and now a little less of one.
A curious use of the Round 3 slot. Interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Kamari Ramsey did not.
Steal is underselling it; Chandler Rivers at No. 129 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Zavion Thomas in pick No. 239, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Jaren Kanak slipping to pick 241 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
