The Cowboys spent real capital to be 80 picks early on Jaydon Blue, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Landing Williams that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Nothing to complain about; Will Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jihaad Campbell in pick 44. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Deone Walker is a better player than slot 76 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Savion Williams at No. 150 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Kyle McCord in pick No. 172 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
