The Bears bet big and early on Trey Moore, 49 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wetjen. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 57, where Emmanuel Pregnon graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Anthony Lucas this early at Round 2, Pick 28. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tyreak Sapp in No. 89 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Trey Moore at the 129th pick, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled TJ Hall all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kaden Wetjen at the 241st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
