The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Nate Boerkircher, the No. 156 name on the board, sitting there at the 186th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Bell at the 37th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Julian Neal at par in Round 4, Pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tim Keenan III at slot 145 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nate Boerkircher in No. 186 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Dalton Johnson in pick No. 192; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
J'Mari Taylor at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
