Nobody else had Carson Beck anywhere near the Round 2 slot. The Jets did, by 69 spots, and that gap is the whole story. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 16 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 1: Sonny Styles for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A big swing on Carson Beck at the 44th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Dontay Corleone was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Joe Royer in the 140th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Fair-plus on Domani Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Jaydn Ott in slot 228; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Isaiah Nwokobia at pick No. 242 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
