The Titans spent real capital to be 43 picks early on George Gumbs Jr., and the board is going to hold them to it.
The Rodriguez steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Omar Cooper Jr. in pick No. 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Keith Abney II in the 66th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
You do not let a linebacker like Jacob Rodriguez reach slot 101 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Oscar Delp higher than Round 5, Pick 2, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Jakobe Thomas, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Nothing to complain about; Seth McGowan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Keagen Trost at the 194th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
George Gumbs Jr. at pick 225 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
