The Packers spent real capital to be 48 picks early on Dylan McMahon, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Torrence steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Tyler Nubin at par in the 41st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They read the board right and Kris Jenkins was the payoff at slot 58. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Javon Baker at Round 3, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Tommy Eichenberg in pick 126, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nice patience on Dylan Laube, who had no business lasting to pick 169. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ro Torrence in the 202nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Garret Greenfield in No. 219 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dylan McMahon in Round 7, Pick 25 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fair-plus on Brevyn Spann-Ford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
