Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Keagen Trost, the No. 180 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 6, Pick 20. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Lee Hunter in pick 52, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in the 84th overall pick with a little surplus value in Daylen Everette. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Davison Igbinosun in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Nate Boerkircher at No. 160 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Keagen Trost was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 20, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
The board had Zavion Thomas higher than pick No. 236, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trey Zuhn III at the 255th pick is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
