Washington Commanders

A passer of the future in Daniels, and a B-, for the Commanders.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 6
In pick 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 37
No drama and no debate, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 36. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 45
Keon Coleman at No. 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Ja'Lynn Polk · WR · rank 66
Ja'Lynn Polk in the 67th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 77
They took Andru Phillips at par in Round 3, Pick 14, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 100
A straight-up fair deal on Kamren Kinchens at slot 100, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 135
They did well to land Caedan Wallace in the 139th pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
By-the-book stuff, Trevin Wallace at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
