New England Patriots

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Washington: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tahj Washington, the No. 192 name on the board, stolen at slot 231. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Sinnott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
Marvin Harrison Jr. at pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 46
A premium they did not need to pay, J.J. McCarthy a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 57
They read the board right and Kingsley Suamataia was the payoff at slot 68. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 132
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at No. 102. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 125
Josh Newton slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 156
Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 179 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.11 · Pick 231 · Tahj Washington · WR · rank 192
The board fumbled Tahj Washington all the way to the 231st overall pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
