The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tre Harris fell into the 193rd overall pick.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Bond has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Kenneth Grant in pick No. 64, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 69th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jabbar Muhammad at the 96th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Ashton Gillotte in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Wyatt Milum in Round 5, Pick 32 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking Tre Harris in pick 193 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Caden Prieskorn in No. 224 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
