The Raiders bet big and early on Max Bredeson, 148 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

So much rides on Fernando Mendoza that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. However the rest shakes out, McAlister at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Fernando Mendoza · QB · rank 4
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Fernando Mendoza. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 56
They paid up for Christen Miller at the 47th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 59
Jake Golday slid further than he should have, and slot 67 is lovely value for the edge rusher. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Elijah Sarratt · WR · rank 76
A tidy little value on Elijah Sarratt in Round 3, Pick 19, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Mike Washington Jr. · RB · rank 75
Value with a capital V on Mike Washington Jr. in the 90th pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Tacario Davis · CB · rank 108
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tacario Davis at pick No. 119. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Bishop Fitzgerald · S · rank 123
A straight-up fair deal on Bishop Fitzgerald at pick 120, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Max Llewellyn · DE-EDGE · rank 153
Value said wait; Max Llewellyn in the 134th overall pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.35 · Pick 175 · Keagen Trost · OT · rank 179
By-the-book stuff, Keagen Trost at Round 5, Pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.27 · Pick 208 · Max Bredeson · TE · rank 356
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Max Bredeson well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Eric McAlister · WR · rank 192
Eric McAlister at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
