Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Green value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 34 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Bralen Trice was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Renardo Green, who had no business lasting to pick 103. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Roger Rosengarten at the 137th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in slot 180, where Kamal Hadden graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ro Torrence in the Round 6 slot. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Trey Knox is a better player than No. 231 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
