The Jaguars did not so much draft Logan Fano as overpay for him, 55 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Anderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in the 29th pick, with Sonny Styles worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Christen Miller at pick 81 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zakee Wheatley at No. 91 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a running back like Emmett Johnson reach slot 124 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Charles Demmings is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Logan Fano at the 203rd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Steal is underselling it; Aaron Anderson at slot 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Riley Nowakowski all the way to pick No. 233, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay TJ Hall at the 240th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kalil Alexander this early at No. 245. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
