The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jaguars watched Ted Hurst slide 37 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They are betting Curry proves the room right and everyone else wrong. It is not that Curry is a bad player; it is that the Jaguars had louder needs to answer first.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Lee Hunter in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Slaughter in pick 88, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose edge rusher. Caden Curry in the 100th pick leaves quarterback for later.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 26 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled J.C. Davis all the way to slot 164, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Kaytron Allen at the 166th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
VJ Payne slid further than he should have, and pick No. 203 is lovely value for the safety. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jimmy Rolder at pick 233 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Miles Kitselman, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
TJ Hall at pick No. 241 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Andre Fuller in the 245th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
