New York Giants

The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Fields: B-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Malachi Fields slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at slot 114. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Jeremiyah Love · RB · rank 2
In the Round 1 slot they get a bell-cow for the offense. A real need, handled.
R1.23 · Pick 23 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 11
A quiet steal in Round 1, Pick 23: Sonny Styles for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 48
They paid sticker price for D'Angelo Ponds in pick 48, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Michael Taaffe · S · rank 71
Michael Taaffe at pick No. 68 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Elijah Sarratt · WR · rank 77
No drama and no debate, Elijah Sarratt went about where he belonged in No. 78. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Darrell Jackson Jr. · DT · rank 106
Darrell Jackson Jr. in slot 105 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Malachi Fields · WR · rank 79
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Malachi Fields in the 114th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Bud Clark · S · rank 105
Bud Clark at the 122nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.5 · Pick 145 · Isaiah World · OT · rank 148
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah World at No. 145, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.5 · Pick 186 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 180
Nothing to complain about; Domani Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
R6.11 · Pick 192 · Zane Durant · DT · rank 185
Zane Durant at the 192nd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.12 · Pick 193 · Red Murdock · LB · rank 198
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Red Murdock. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.13 · Pick 194 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 194
Taylen Green in pick No. 194 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
