The Giants won the night they stopped Hurst from sliding. Grade: A.

You build a draft on nights like this. Ted Hurst had no business being available in pick No. 126, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Adding George Pickens by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Sonny Styles and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Sonny Styles · LB · rank 11
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in the 26th pick, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R1.28 · Pick 28 · Jermod McCoy · CB · rank 16
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · D'Angelo Ponds · CB · rank 48
No edge and no loss on D'Angelo Ponds in pick 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Michael Taaffe · S · rank 71
The board fumbled Michael Taaffe all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 73
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 105 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ted Hurst · WR · rank 89
Ted Hurst in slot 126 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.5 · Pick 145 · Parker Brailsford · C · rank 131
The board had Parker Brailsford higher than the 145th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.5 · Pick 186 · Aamil Wagner · OT · rank 178
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Aamil Wagner in pick No. 186. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.11 · Pick 192 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 194
A straight-up fair deal on Taylen Green at the 192nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.12 · Pick 193 · Red Murdock · LB · rank 198
They took Red Murdock at par in pick 193, which is nothing to complain about. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
