The Packers won the night they stopped Gould from sliding. Grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Anthony Gould had no business being available in the 219th pick, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 35
In the 31st pick they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
They took Tyler Nubin at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
Junior Colson in the 58th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 63, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
No edge and no loss on Dominick Puni in No. 88; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
DJ James at pick 91 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 115
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 26 on Javon Solomon with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 132
They barely believed it either: Sataoa Laumea still on the board at slot 169. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 176
A running back of that caliber at pick 202 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Anthony Gould · WR · rank 143
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Anthony Gould in slot 219, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 222
Somehow Trey Knox was still sitting there in the 245th overall pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Ro Torrence · CB · rank 180
You do not let a cornerback like Ro Torrence reach Round 7, Pick 35 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
