Somebody took the Patriots to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. If Sturdivant pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Lachey.

Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
Kenneth Grant at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Luke Lachey slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 3 is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 99 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Donovan Edwards in pick No. 133 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A conviction pick on Keaten Wade at the 195th overall pick that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
