After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Jones has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Bottom line, with Drake Maye leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Patrick Paul at No. 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Roman Wilson in pick No. 68 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Brade at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dylan Laube in the 139th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Christian Jones at the 179th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Steele Chambers went about where he belonged in slot 224. It adds depth where they could use a little.
