The Cardinals looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Dorian Strong at Round 5, Pick 19 regardless, 136 picks early.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Mondon Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 53, where Smael Mondon Jr. graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Blake Miller well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kobe Hudson in Round 4, Pick 22 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dorian Strong at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
