They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Williams reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
McCaffrey falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Cam Hart in the 108th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 29 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to pick No. 157. It fills a real need, too.
Layden Robinson at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach on Justin Rogers in No. 177; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Miyan Williams at slot 232, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
