After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Getting Barrett where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Fair-plus on Xavier Legette, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Byron Murphy II. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 7 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Mike Sainristil come to them and pounced at slot 143. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Zion Tupuola-Fetui went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Michael Barrett in No. 216 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
