They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Giants' quarterback, full stop.
The cost of the McLachlan reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wallace.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in pick 39, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Jonathon Brooks went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 26. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 70; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Josh Newton in No. 89 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Blake Fisher at the 108th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Michael Barrett at slot 185 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They will replay Josh Wallace at the 244th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Tanner McLachlan at pick No. 255 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
