If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jaylin Simpson at the Round 4 slot is 39 spots clear of where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jonathon Brooks in pick 62. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Tyleik Williams in No. 93, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylin Simpson this early at pick No. 130. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Burch in the 174th pick, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cornelius Johnson at the 212th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trey Knox in the 251st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
