New England Patriots

Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Paul Jr.: A-.

When a board-topper like Chris Paul Jr. slides to the 220th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Dellinger has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, with Tetairoa McMillan leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 5
In the 6th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 22
Nice patience on Jalon Walker, who had no business lasting to No. 37. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Tyler Baron · DE-EDGE · rank 80
Tyler Baron at the 69th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 76
Omarr Norman-Lott at Round 3, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Jordan James · RB · rank 52
Somehow Jordan James was still sitting there in slot 104, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.6 · Pick 143 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 110
A running back of that caliber at pick 143 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 201
Value with a capital V on Seth McLaughlin in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
R7.1 · Pick 217 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 253
They left a pile of value on the table to take Garrett Dellinger this early at pick No. 217. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 113
Chris Paul Jr. at slot 220 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Kaden Prather · WR · rank 236
Kaden Prather at the 238th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
