The Packers put a flag in the ground for LaDarius Henderson, 39 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Shipley falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 21
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 48
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 54
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javon Bullard in No. 58. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
Dominick Puni at pick No. 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 97
A straight-up fair deal on Roger Rosengarten at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 117
The board had Will Shipley higher than Round 4, Pick 26, and the running back fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 178
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 169th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Evan Williams · S · rank 232
Evan Williams at pick No. 202 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jacob Monk · OT · rank 234
The board had cheaper options than Jacob Monk at Round 6, Pick 44, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 284
They reached a country mile for LaDarius Henderson at No. 245, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 251
Michael Barrett in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
