You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Landing Guyton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let Tyler Guyton come to them and pounced at slot 41. A need, and now a little less of one.
Payton Wilson in pick 58 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good price on Jaden Hicks in No. 88, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Marshawn Kneeland for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Johnny Wilson at the 126th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
