Nobody had Tyler Loop this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 105 spots to get him at Round 7, Pick 1.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Emmanwori falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
If Ashton Jeanty and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 10 they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
In pick 17 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 6 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Omarr Norman-Lott, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Seth McLaughlin at slot 144 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Loop. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A real head-scratcher, Andrew Armstrong in Round 7, Pick 4 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 238, where Carson Vinson graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
