The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Andrew Mukuba fell into No. 106.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid a round early for Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in pick No. 49, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quinshon Judkins at slot 69 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in pick 77: Jayden Higgins for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Donovan Jackson, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 17. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in the 106th overall pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Majors at No. 144. It fills a real need, too.
Good price on Ricky White III in Round 7, Pick 1, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cam Horsley in slot 220 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Jabbar Muhammad at No. 238 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
