The trade table was a mismatch, and the Commanders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Myles Garrett leading the way.
In the end it comes back to Kamren Kinchens, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Kamren Kinchens in pick No. 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 55th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Audric Estime at No. 102 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Foster at slot 128, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Jordan Travis in Round 5, Pick 5, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylan Ford in the 181st overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jared Wiley in No. 209 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaiah Williams in pick No. 223 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
