B

New England Patriots

The Patriots worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

by MikeyMike13 · 2025 NFL Draft · 9 picks · 2 steals · 5 reaches
Value C+
Need B
Trades A+
Future D

There is reaching, and then there is R.J. Oben at the 220th overall pick. The Patriots jumped the board by 141 and dared it to prove them wrong. The bottom line is a respectable B.

That Winston Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Adding Ja'Marr Chase by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.6 · Pick 38 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 15
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at pick No. 38 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 70
Quinshon Judkins at No. 69 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 126
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Emery Jones Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.36 · Pick 100 · Jaylin Noel · WR · rank 102
Jaylin Noel at the 100th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Shemar Turner · DL · rank 127
They reached into another round for Shemar Turner, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.6 · Pick 143 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 104
A safety of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 6 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.1 · Pick 217 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 225
They liked Seth McLaughlin enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 217. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · R.J. Oben · DL-EDGE · rank 361
A big swing on R.J. Oben at the 220th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Trey Wedig · OT · rank 303
Value said wait; Trey Wedig in No. 238 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
