The tape said wait; the Dolphins did not. J.J. Weaver went at the 252nd pick, a good 86 picks before the board was ready. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Stutsman falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Bowman Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback and running back.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

In No. 15 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value.
No drama and no debate, Grey Zabel went about where he belonged in pick No. 48. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Joshua Farmer, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mason Taylor at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and running back to take Billy Bowman Jr., a safety that was not the priority.
Danny Stutsman in the 149th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Pat Bryant in No. 154. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nohl Williams well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Garrett Dellinger at slot 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
J.J. Weaver at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
