The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Chau Smith-Wade, the 199th overall pick, roughly 31 picks past where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 50th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Adisa Isaac at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chris Braswell at the 60th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nehemiah Pritchett at pick 155 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Keith Randolph Jr. at slot 160 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, LaDarius Henderson went about where he belonged in No. 170. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Roger Rosengarten in pick No. 186 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Chau Smith-Wade in slot 199 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
The board fumbled Jawhar Jordan all the way to No. 239, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
